Adult Guardianship Services Needs Assessment
Elkhart County has been selected as one of five communities in the state to participate in the Indiana Adult Guardianship Services Project. Many local agencies have been meeting to plan and implement our project. State grant funds are helping us to develop a locally tailored pilot project model to address community education needs around guardianship and the need for guardianship services for persons who are aged, developmentally disabled, mentally ill and medically compromised.
Efforts are being made to both enhance existing guardianship programs and to develop new entities to meeting current service gaps. Use of trained volunteer guardians will be an important component of this project.
