Advocacy Program
Many ADEC clients are encouraged to get actively involved in groups that promote self-advocacy. Through self-advocacy individuals learn to be more self reliant and more self-directed in all aspects of their lives.
Through groups like the Elkhart/Goshen Kiwanis AKtion Club and ADEC’s Power For Independence members learn how to use community services and resources as well as give back through public service. Club members collect food for local food banks; serve as bell ringers for the Salvation Army and provide the gift of welcome company for the residents of local long-term care facilities.
